5 Tips For Self-care

1. Turn your phone off

Switch off your phone and escape social media.

It's all too easy to get lost in our screens as we tap from app to app and scroll through social feeds. Modern devices and social media apps are designed to hook you in and keep you engaged, and in some cases can lead to behavioural addictions to technology

When relaxing try to put you phone in another room to keep distractions at bay.

2. Get a massage

Massage is perhaps one of the oldest healing traditions. Many ancient peoples – including the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Chinese and Indians – were convinced of the therapeutic properties of massage and used it to treat a variety of ailments.

One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing.

Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.

3.Go away for a night

It dosen't have to be in an exotic location or for a weekend - you can even stay at a hotel in your hometown. It's an amazing way to feel rejuvenated with a change of scenery.

4. Create a self-care kit

Fill up a box or basket with some loved possessions such as candles, face masks, chocolate, body lotion and a fluffy new pair of socks.

5. Get some takeaway

After a long day at work - one of the best shortcuts to feeling relaxed can be ordering takeaway. This sounds like a super lazy move, however, it can truly help take the edge off when having a stressful day.

Our tip is to keep it as healthy as possible - perhaps a salad or curry packed with vegetables. Today, there are so many choices so there's no need to be eating hot chips when ordering takeaway! Go yummy AND healthy!

We hope these tips helped you out on your self-care journey!
